Thank you for your support of Republican Valley Produce CSA in the past few years. This year, we are changing up our food delivery plan for Clay County, and we hope you are as excited about this change as we are.

Starting August 22, we will be making weekly deliveries on Mondays of at least $20 of produce delivered to your door for six consecutive weeks. You can sign up on a week-by-week basis for $20 per week, or can commit to the six weeks for $100 total if paid in advance by August 15.

Expected produce and products in the bags for this August 22-September 26 session could include tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, sweet peppers, jalapenos and hot peppers, squash, zucchini, cucumbers, onions, garlic, carrots, okra, radishes, turnips, herbs, various greens, jellies and more. Recipes included! Contents subject to change depending on harvest conditions. We will honor a money back guarantee if we are unable to provide $20 worth of produce and products each week. We will plan on additional six-week sessions in October 3- November 7 and possibly a third depending on customer response. We will need to limit it to 25 customers, in order to ensure a quality product.

To sign up, just reply to this email and let us know, or stop by the Farmers Market in Clay Center on Saturday mornings at the courthouse square. We hope this new format will make it easier for you to get the fresh, local, delicious produce we pride ourselves on growing.

Thanks for your continued support!

Jay and Linda

The market is open!

The market is open. Please have your orders placed by 10 pm on Sunday.

It is looking like an early spring. We are busy planting and preparing ground to plant. We have about 10,000 onions coming and need to be planted in the next 2 weeks. We also will be planting out tomatoes in just a few weeks.

It is time to get busy.

Thanks!

Jay

The market is open

Greetings from the wind swept plains of Kansas!

We are still hanging on up here on Windy Hill. Everything is still in place, but some of the plastic on the end walls of the high tunnels has taken a beating. But I am not worried, it was going to be replaced ASAP before spring planting time. We have our tomatoes started in the basement and they are looking really good. We will be starting lettuce, bok choy, kale and other greens this weekend. We will also start the first planting of 400 peppers too.

Orders will be delivered to Clay Center on Tuesday, I may have to be a little later than usual as I have to work around P-T conferences next week.

Thanks,

Jay

Market is open

Sorry this is late, it has been a busy week this week. We are busy planting seeds in the house to be planted out in a few weeks. We have the first 350 tomatoes up and growing. Seed orders are coming in daily and we have another 400 to get started this weekend. We will also be starting many other cool season crops with hopes of an early spring. It is a busy time.

A few things about what is available this week, the spinach isn’t available as it has been harvested down and it is yellowing. I am hoping with some water, sunlight and warmth, we will see a rapid onset of new growth. We are also out of scarlet kale and swiss chard. We will have more in the weeks to come.

I will extend orders until Sunday at 10 pm, with the nice weather next week I shouldn’t have any problems getting things picked.

Thanks,

Jay

The market is open

The market is open. We are in the final month of our winter season, before we start tearing things out and start replanting tomatoes, lettuce, kale and spinach.

We are getting ready to start seeds this week, a little behind, but that is ok. We built a new seedling room in our basement. It is going to be nice to have everything in one place.

Please place your orders before Saturday at 10pm. We will deliver to Clay Center on Tuesday and deliveries will be made to the Manhattan Market on February 12th or you can order next week.

Thanks,

Jay

Happy New Year, the market is open

Yes the market is open, with so many things happening today, I forgot to send this out last night.

We will do deliveries to Manhattan, if you order by 10:00 pm on Friday. Clay Center orders will due by Saturday at 10pm.

Despite the cold, we still are looking good produce wise.

Happy New Year!

Jay

Almost Christmas time, The market is open.

First of al, I am sorry I didn’t open the market last week. We were busy getting ready to go to a Cattle show in Hutchinson, we left Thursday and got back Sunday night and the thought never crossed my mind. When I noticed that I forgot it was Tuesday when I realized I didn’t have any orders to fill. Sorry.

We will be doing deliveries in Manhattan on Saturday to the winter market if you get your order in by Friday night at 10 pm.

We are a little wet, after 4 inches of rain over the weekend, it is nice to put some moisture back into the ground.

Orders are due by 10 pm on Saturday for delivery in Clay Center or by 10 pm on Friday for delivery to the winter market.

Hope to see you soon.

Jay

The market is open, sorry for the delay

The market is open! I am sorry for the delay. With Monday being a snow day, I have been a day behind all week. It has been an interesting week with all the ice, rain and snow.

We were able to get all the garlic planted before the rain last Wednesday. We planted 2,800-3,000 cloves. I am hopeful for next year.

If you want to pick up your order at the Winter Market in Manhattan, please place it before Friday night at 10 pm. The market closes on Saturday at 10pm.

Thanks!

Jay

The market is open

The first real cold snap of the year is finally here. This weekend will bring us the coldest temperatures we have had all season. Fun Fact, last year we were in the single digits and we had 8 days in a row that the temperatures didn’t get above freezing for the daytime high. We won’t be anywhere close to that.

Just an FYI, here is the delivery schedule for the rest of November and the first week of December.

Clay Center deliveries: November 24 and December 1st, 8, 15, 22, 29th.

Manhattan Deliveries, November 21(winter market), 25th and December 5th(winter market), December 9th, December 19th (winter market) and December 23rd and January 2nd (winter market).

If you order by Friday night, I will have your order ready for Saturday at the winter market.

Orders due by 10 pm on Saturday.

Thanks,

Jay

We didn't blow away!

Hello,

The market is open.

With all the wind yesterday, I am happy to report we didn’t blow away. We had a few minor things to fix, but nothing out of the ordinary. I am glad it calmed down Wednesday night.

We are planning deliveries to Clay Center on Tuesday November 17th and we will deliver to Manhattan at the Winter Farmers Market on November 21st.

Just an FYI, here is the delivery schedule for the rest of November and the first week of December.

Clay Center deliveries: November 17, 24 and December 1st

Manhattan Deliveries, November 21(winter market), 25th and December December 5th(winter market).

This will be the last week for tomatoes.

We have lots of wonderful produce and hope you can find something that you like.

Jay
